How being part of a supportive team helps push you to produce impactful results.
After 2 weeks on site, I shared my Site Week presentation with my team and another team working on a similar project. The feedback I received was so rich and useful; everyone was so invested in helping me to develop. It gave me the confidence that I was doing the right things and made me feel super supported.

We did a team treasure hunt to get to know the City – it was a freezing evening but we had so much fun and it made a real difference to feeling at home in Bristol. It made me realise how enjoyable it is exploring a new place with colleagues and really set the tone for lots more team fun activities that then followed.
A group of people from my team signed up to sleep outside for the night in Bristol to help raise awareness of and money for a charity that supports young people to find safe, sustainable accommodation and build their lives. We did this with a group of colleagues from our client team (and it included a silent disco!!). It was the middle of winter and I can’t emphasis this enough – it absolutely POURED it down!! Everyone was so committed to this incredible cause and stayed outside all night. It was probably one of the most memorable nights ever and I felt unbelievably lucky to be part of such a fantastic team.
Whilst I was preparing for an important client meeting, the impact of the work I had been doing really set in; the KPI had been climbing to levels not seen before by the organisation and it was getting a lot of attention by senior stakeholders! I felt incredibly proud to be making a difference and delivering meaningful impact. This was a moment when I really understood what makes Newton different.
I organised and ran a set of 3 workshops to the client team – this meant speaking to over 100 new people! I’d been really nervous as I didn’t feel like an expert in their field of work and I worried that would reduce my credibility. After the final one, I couldn’t believe that I’d done it and that it had gone so smoothly. It felt great to have directly worked through problems with the people they affect the most. I felt reassured that I didn’t need to ‘know it all’ – I just needed to listen with an open mind and apply my problem solving skills.
The client team had been facing into a really challenging period which they requested support getting out of. The whole Newton team flipped their focus within 24 hours to do all that we could to help. We were able to completely change the position that they were in within 7 days. I thought it was outstanding to see the dedication from everyone and felt a shared duty of care for the client team’s outcomes from each of us.
