Edie studied a maths degree but wasn’t inspired by the idea of sitting behind a desk crunching numbers. She loved drama subjects and finding ways to connect with people. And after discovering the consultant role , she knew that a career at Newton was the right fit for her to apply those skills.

“I’m a number and a people person. Newton’s approaches are analytical and data-driven, but you also need to be able to communicate with people. It was the perfect fit for me.”

Those communication and collaboration skills have continued to push Edie’s career forward, as she partners with clients across multiple projects to deliver meaningful impact.

“I most recently worked with a regulated utilities company to help them improve their business processes. Our solutions achieved real positive change, and part of that included reducing their environmental impact. It was really rewarding to work on.”

But for Edie, it’s not just about delivering impact for businesses. It’s also about the people working within them. Building trusting relationships with them is what she enjoys most.

“I once worked with an engineering company where employees were frustrated, they weren’t very engaged and there was maybe a lack of trust. But we took them along the journey, involved them in the process and by the end they were so much more engaged. We felt trusted. That’s what makes us different as Consultants; we don’t tell people what to do, we facilitate them to help find solutions together.”
