Newton appoints Wil Schoenmakers as Global Head of Retail and Consumer Goods

By

London, [03/02/2025]: Newton, the strategic delivery consultancy that works with its clients to unlock complex challenges and deliver meaningful impact, has announced the appointment of a new Senior Partner, Wil Schoenmakers, as Global Head of Retail and Consumer Goods as of 3 February 2025.

At the heart of the Newton business is a powerful approach that is uniquely data-driven, forensically detailed, digitally enabled and human-powered. Newton creates lasting value for clients, building strong partnerships with client teams, and plays a critical role in large scale, complex, transformation programmes.

Wil’s appointment complements this and expedites the expansion and growth of the company globally. It positions the business well to capitalise on its competitive advantage when it comes to increasing its presence and offering across broader Europe and North America within the retail and consumer sector.

In addition to driving growth, Wil will be responsible for expanding and evolving the impact and value that Newton is able to offer clients in Europe and beyond, helping them solve their most complex challenges. Wil’s extensive understanding of the challenges the sector faces, and experience in building solutions that address them, is market-leading. He has led a large number of strategically significant projects for clients over many years, that have in turn had a wider impact on the sector as a whole.

Wil joins Newton with a 30 year track record in the consumer sector globally. Starting his career in Procter & Gamble, Wil gained a strong understanding of operational improvement. He then spent a number of years at PA Consulting as a Partner and Global Head for Consumer, Retail and Manufacturing, and established their presence in the US and continental Europe. Wil was most recently at Korn Ferry, where he led their global Consulting business for Consumer, specialising in organisation and cultural transformation.

Steve Phillips, Managing Partner, Newton, comments:

“The business has identified key growth opportunities in the consumer sector globally as a core ambition over the coming years. It is with this goal in mind that we have sought to further strengthen our specialist expertise, particularly in branded, global consumer goods and are delighted that Wil has chosen to join our team.

“His track record within the sector is exemplary and he is committed to spending significant time with clients on the ground to support their strategic delivery and ambitions.

Everyone at Newton and I are very much looking forward to working with Wil to push the boundaries of our capabilities, our propositions, and deliver on our growth ambitions.”

Wil Schoenmakers, Global Head of Retail and Consumer Goods, Newton comments:

“Newton already has a huge impact in the consumer goods and retail sector, with a potent mix of a strong culture, bright minds, deep sector insights, a true collaborative spirit and real impact offering huge potential globally.

The team at Newton has some amazing talent across key areas of capability and I am very much looking forward to work with the current leadership team and the broader Newton organisation to accelerate our growth, further strengthen our position in the market and create even more exciting opportunities for our people.

We are on an exciting journey to be able to deliver even more impact to current and future clients as true global strategic delivery partners.”
