Steve Phillips steps into a new Managing Partner role

Steven Phillips has been promoted to the Managing Partner of Newton.

Newton Founding Partner Andy Hawes commented, “It’s an exciting time for Newton as we enter our next phase of growth and I’m delighted to have Steve step into the role of managing partner. Having worked with him for many years, I’m confident in his leadership, strategic vision, and ability to propel Newton to new heights. We have ambitious plans, and I look forward to working closely with Steve in his new capacity to evolve team capabilities and drive further value for our clients”.

Founded in 2001, Newton is a UK origin specialist in operational improvement. The company looks to help clients solve some of the most complex challenges in the public and private sector across sectors including infrastructure, defence, retail, food and drink manufacturing, healthcare, and social care.

Phillips becomes the firm’s managing partner after more than 14 years spearheading Newton’s rapidly-growing public sector team. Throughout his tenure in that role, he has grown the practice to span health, social care, children’s social care, housing, and central government. This has been underpinned by a commitment to client success throughout his career at Newton, delivering impactful change in often very complex environments, improving outcomes for people and communities.

Commenting on his new position, Phillips added, “Newton’s founding principle is simply to deliver exceptional value to clients and I am looking forward to strengthening this legacy. After working with the outstandingly talented team over the years, it’s my privilege to now help shape Newton’s future success.”

Looking ahead, as managing partner, Phillips will assume strategic leadership responsibilities and play an instrumental role in executing the company’s continued growth and expansion into new markets and territories. The move also necessitates a reshuffle elsewhere in Newton’s leadership. Richard Lum will assume leadership of the public sector team following Phillips’ promotion – with a proven track record of collaboration across systems and agencies making him ideally suited to assume the role.
