“The LGA Conference is a highlight of the local government calendar, and we’re delighted to be back for another year as part of the Innovation Zone, which provides a space for local authorities to collaborate and share ideas.
We’re proud that our partnerships with local authorities to deliver strategic improvement and innovation are resulting in improved resident outcomes and service quality, and significant financial benefit. Over the next three days, a range of our clients will be leading sessions sharing some of their examples.
For the first time this year, we will also be joined by our partners at Xantura, who specialise in using artificial intelligence and advanced analytics to enable public services to better understand and support the needs of residents and communities. While Xantura is becoming integral to how we deliver for all our client partnerships, they have also invited the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham to lead a session to demonstrate the impact they have had together.
We look forward to welcoming you for a coffee and providing a space to catch up with colleagues.”

Leeds Health and Care Partnership’s ’HomeFirst’ is a bold and innovative programme aspiring to achieve a sustainable, person-centred, home-first model of intermediate care that promotes independence. In this session, Leeds City Council will share how this is enabling more people to return to their homes and avoid residential care following a stay in hospital, reduce long-term use of domiciliary care, and make progress towards over £26m annualised financial benefit.

Innovation Zone, Stage 1
Join Birmingham’s Strategic Director of Children & Families Directorate, Dr Sue Harrison, to hear how they are on an ambitious journey to re-design their services to best support children and young people while addressing their financial challenges.

Innovation Zone, Stage 2
In 2019, the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham began matching data held across its main people’s services to create a single view of residents. Having built tools that feed this personal data to frontline workers, commissioners and leaders they are now proactively targeting residents to prevent poor outcomes. In this session, the Council’s Head of Insight and Innovation, Tim Pearse, will showcase the benefits being achieved, the challenges being overcome and their ambitions for the future.

Support for working age and lifelong disabled adults now makes up 63% of the net adult social care budget in England – over £10 billion in 2022/23 and rising. In this session, Pat Flaherty, Chief Executive of Staffordshire County Council, will outline why local authorities should place greater focus on the needs of working age and lifelong disabled adults, and what benefits this might enable for individuals and for local areas. This session comes ahead of the publication of our new report with the County Councils Network exploring the case for improved outcomes for these individuals.

During this session, Rob Whiteman CBE, Gavin Jones, and Maria Cristofi will share their reflections and experience on where and how local authorities are fundamentally reimagining how they are structure themselves and how they deliver services differently to meet the financial challenges of today, while improving public services for residents and communities for the long-term.
