From groups for those with a particular demographic in common, to those that connect individuals with similar hobbies, our networks provide support and connection across our employees.

Our EDI Vision

But it’s not just the responsibility of our networks.

As a business, we have set out a Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB) vision to create a culture that prioritises fair treatment, and a commitment to diversity that fosters inclusion. Timeline

We’ve come a long way, together.

Over the last two decades our core methodology has been at the heart of everything we do. From the first days of just three friends around a kitchen table to where we are today, that same drive and approach has always been there.

2001: Newton is founded

Three friends; Andy Hawes, Tom Wedgwood and Kevin Jones founded Newton in 2001 to break the mould of traditional consultancies. Newton was founded with three core principles – fun, friendship and high performance – an ethos that is still true today.

2003: First defence sector client

Newton’s defence sector secured its first client, who was attracted by our belief in the transferability of our expertise. We offered innovative solutions and strategic insights to enhance national security and defence capabilities.

2003: Our First Graduate Recruit

Less than 1% of those who apply to join Newton are successful. 21 years later, Newton now ranks in top 30 graduate recruiters in the United Kingdom. Steve Knight was our first graduate and still with us and is now a Partner, leading our Local Government work in the public sector.

2008: New Markets

We saw an opportunity to apply our capabilities to the challenges facing the public sector. Our first programme was with an NHS Trust, where we improved patient flow by increasing the efficiency and effectiveness of operating theatres.

2011: Delivering Meaningful Impact

As our work in healthcare grew, we wanted to enable improved outcomes across other public services. We diversified into adult social care, and our first programme with a local authority focussed on supporting more older people to live independently at home.

2014: Growth in Retail

Newton continued to grow into other markets, with our consumer sector beginning to build their expertise in retail. During this year we secured a 3-year change programme with a major UK retailer. Our industry leading analytics tool that finds the cause of wasted food and gaps in supermarket stores, starts highlighting problems the retailer didn’t know existed.

2016: Industry Recognition

At the National Business Awards in 2016, Newton collected the award for the Best Small to Medium Business of the Year.

2019: Programme 2021

We launched year 1 of a highly ambitious transformation programme with a headline figure of taking £1.5bn out of a national submarine programme.

2020: On the rails

Building on our expertise in the defence sector, Newton expanded into the infrastructure sector. This move allowed us to apply our insights to new challenges, making infrastructure a key focus area for our growth and development.

2020: Working at a National Level

Newton surpassed 350 people and is now supporting the national effort in responding to Covid-19, coordinating shielding, and boosting testing and ventilator production rates.

2022: Christine Hodgson joins the team

We appointed Christine Hodgson our new Chair. She takes up the role at the turn of the year, succeeding Andy Clarke. Christine joined Newton with a wealth of senior leadership and board experience to draw upon. A former Capgemini UK CFO, she also spent time as CEO of Technology Services Northwest Europe and the Global Head of Corporate Social Responsibility.

2023: Steve Phillips becomes Managing Partner

To ensure Newton’s continued growth and development, Steve Phillips was appointed to Managing Partner to lead our strategic direction and drive our expansion into different markets and territories.

2024: Helen Beurier becomes CPO

People are at the heart of Newton, and as we grow, making sure we all feel engaged and able to thrive becomes more important than ever. Helen Beurier is instrumental in helping us to achieve our full potential. Helen has been key in how we will expand into different territories. Her expertise has helped us to realise our strategic ambitions and position us for future growth.

2024: Xantura & Magnetic join the family

As part of Newton’s mission to foster our continued growth Newton acquired Magnetic and Xantura to build adjacent and complementary capabilities.
